- COOK, William Prince

Narrative

William or Willie as he was known, was born 14th July 1871 and commenced work with the Parmant Way (Railway) at the ag eof 14 as a Junior Porter. In a temporary capacity, he received 3/6d. per day. Willie retired from the railway at the age of 61 years in 1932 on a wag of 447 pounds p.a. His staff certificate details positions of gripman, uhtrater, assistant guard, goods, guard, night stationmaster, and yard master. He was stationed at Burwood 1888, Sydney 1894, in Orange with his dad in1900 and later at Parramata and Darling Harbour. At Darling Harbour he was instrumental in the elcectical engineering of the switch lines for the south-coast system. A highly respected man, Willie served as an Slderman on his council. He married Adelaide D.T. MASTERS in 1893.
