James born Orange in 1874, 4th child of James COOK and Sarah Ann COOK (GREENHALGH) and killed as a result of a tram accident in Sydney. James married Agnes O'NEILL (born Orange 1871 and died in Sydney 1939) and raised a family of 6 children all of whom were born in Canowindra. Herewith abstraact from Canowindra & Dristrict Historical Society Publication "Canowiindra celebrates its one hundred years"...25th April to 1st May 1939. "On 31st October 1899. Mr H.L Bullen began the business fo the "Canowondra Star: newspaper and job printery. Mr Bullen only stayed in possession for about twelve months , disposing his interests to Mr. James Cook who had been a kpartner for awhile, Mr. S.H. Howey. In taking over in August 1900Mr Cook met financial difficulties and a number of public-spirited men came to his assistant to tide him over an anious time. Hoever, he carried the falg of the "STAR" aloft for many years." A Journlist/Compositor. James returned to his trade and worked for the Sydney Morning Herald and the Governemnt Printin Office.
