LATE MRS J. ORRELL
The death has occurred at Caloundra of Mrs James, Orrell senr., one of the last of the original pioneers of the Blackall Range and North Coast districts.
The late Mrs Orrell, who was born in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, a little more than 75 years ago, was the younger daughter of the late David Petrie.
At the age of five years she accompanied her mother and stepfather to Mellum Creek, (now known as Landsborough), In 1888 she married Mr James Orrell.
During her married life she lived at Buderim Mt., when It was a sugar plantation worked by Kanaka labour. She also lived at Maroochydore, Maleny, Landsborough, and latterly at Caloundra.
She is survived by her husband, eight daughters, two sons, 33 grand children, and 22 great-grandchildren.
