Mr. Cyrus Sheppeard, a miner at the State mine, had two fingers and a thumb shattered yesterday when a detonator he was holding exploded. He was admitted to Lithgow hospital. It is understood Mr. Sheppeard was attempting to attach the explosive a fuse prior to firing a shot.
The accident, he was brought out the mine on the transport, the causing great pain. He was attended by the ambulance, and then to hospital.
A few weeks, ago a similar accident occurred on the repair job on the Main Western Road near South Bowenfels, as the result of which the victim was forced to undergo an operation for the amputation of his hand. Mr. Sheppeard is a resident of Selwyn Street.

STRANGE HOODOO ON FAMILY ONE AFTER ANOTHER IN HOSPITAL
LITHGOW, Wednesday. — While cutting timber at Hartley, Ernest Sheppeard, of Lithgow, formerly heavyweight champion boxer of Australia.
Severed the top of a Anger, and was admitted to the local hospital, where two of his brothers, Harry and George, are inmates through illness.
A few days ago another brother, Cyrus Sheppeard, was discharged from the institution, after treatment for a mining accident, in which he had two Angers blown off.

FAMILY'S BAD LUCK.
Members in Hospital.' LITHGOW, Wednesday.
Three brothers-Ernest, Harry, and George Sheppeard are inmates of Lithgow Hospital.
Harry and George Sheppeard are being treated for illness, and Ernest, who was formerly heavyweight boxing champion of Australia, was admitted yesterday suffering from the loss of portion of his little finger, the result of a mishap with an axe. A fourth brother, Cyrus Sheppeard, who was injured in an accident at the State mine, where an exploding detonator blew off two fingers, was discharged recently William Sheppeard, father of the four men, was severely injured at the State mine, his arm having to be amputated.
