The death took place at noon yesterday of an old and highly respected resident of this district in the person , of Mr. William Sheppeard at the age of 66 years. Death took place at his residence in Inch-street, where he had resided for a great number of years. He was a native of Mount Victoria, but practically the whole of his life was spent in Lithgow. The deceased had been in failing health for about six months and death was not entirely unexpected. He has left a widow and grown-up family to mourn their loss. The late Mr. Sheppeard's father had the distinction of building the first hotel at Mount Victoria near the old toll bar, which was commonly known as Sheppeard's toll bar.
