MR. WILLIAM FUCHS
The death occurred yesterday evening of a well known and highly respected pioneer of the Island Plantation, William Fuchs, aged 77 years and 10 months. He was born in Germany and came out to Queensland with his parents at the age of eight years, landing on January 15, 1864. He had resided here since. He visited his native land in 1914. He selected land at the Island Plantation 56 years ago and engaged in general farming and sugar growing. He was a very old member of the P.A.F.S.O.A., Excelsior Lodge No 1. He leaves a wife, Mrs Wilhelmina Fuchs, and a family of three sons and two daughters— Henry, August, and Wilhelm (Maryborough) and Mrs. F. W. Muller and Mrs. C. A. Scheffler (Maryborough). Brothers are Henry (Island Plantation), August and Carl (The Pocket). Mrs. W. Pommerining (Sydney), Mrs. F. Fien (Brisbane), Mrs. O. Myers (Tiaro), Mrs. A. F. Rosendale (Townsville), Mrs C. E. Zahn (Bundaberg), Mrs. F. Jabbs (Maryborough) are sisters. There are seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 1.45 o'clock from his late residence, Brittania Farm, Island Plantatioion for the Maryborough Cemetery.
