About 12 o'clock on Tuesday night Charles Percival May, a resident of Victoria road, Marrickville, was roused from his slumbers by the sounds of numerous missiles hopping off the sides of his residence, a weatherboard building. - He jumped out of bed, and rushed to the door to ascertain the cause of such an extraordinary occurrence, and was in time to see his neighbour, Thomas Bales, a dealer, aged 22 years, in such proximity to the house that he at once associated him with the trouble. He asked Bales what he. was doing, and that young man said in reply, "Come outside, and I'll break your — : — head" At this time three of the boards of the house had been smashed as a result of the fusillade that was directed at it. May went in search of a policeman, and coming across Constable Scott, of Marrickville, he gave his neighbour Bales in charge to that offcer. At the Newtown Police Court yesterday, Bales pleaded guilty to maliciously injuring three boards, value £1, the property of Charles Percival May, at Marrickville, on -the -15th; instant, and was fined £1; and ordered to pay £1 damage, in default 21 days', gaol. On a further charge of using threatening language to May, he was fined £1, in default seven days' gaol.
