APPLICATION FOR A PROHIBITION ORDER.
James Kirk made application for a prohibition order against his wife, Lena Kirk, for a period of twelve months. Mr. E. J. McCaffrey appeared for Mrs Kirk, and said the summons .had only been issued on the previous day, and he had not had time to go into the matter. Mr. Kirk said he wished the case to be gone on with. He could not put up with it any longer. The J M: You will have to give her a -chance. She has only engaged Mr. McCaffrey this morning. I am very sorry. This is the first case of the kind— between husband and wife. Mr. McCaffrey said that trouble had existed for some years between the parties. It was not a spasmodic matter Mr. Kirk said the children were not getting proper food, and his wife had been very abusive. She had gone out drinking at night, and a bottle of whiskey had been found in her room, while she had been caught throwing beer out of the window. The defendant, at this stage, cried, and declared that Mr. Kirk's statement was not true. The L.M informed Mr. Kirk that the case would be adjourned until Thursday, 29th inst., and if his wife continued to drink in the meantime he could mention the matter when the case was being heard.
