OBITUARY
MR CHARLES ECKERT
The death occurred at a late hour on Saturday night of Mr Charles Eckert, aged 84 years, a well known resident of Granville. Born in Hanover Germany, the deceased left his native land at the age of 19 and emigrated to New York, where he worked in the Singer Sewing Machine Company's factory for some time. Later he migrated to Australia, and had lived in Maryborough and Granville for over 60 years. At one time he worked as a fitter at the works of Walkers Ltd., later entering the employment of the Railway Department and working in the locomotive shop until his retirement.
In his earlier days, the late Mr Eckert was associated with the military force in Maryborough, serving with both the light horse and infantry. He was a very old member of the Excelsior Lodge, No 1. P.A.F.S.O.A. He is survived by his wife, Mrs B. Eckert, three sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs Adolf Henry (railway service, Maryborough), Robert (Walkers Ltd.), and William Eckert (Stuparts Ltd), and the daughters are Mesdames J. Kirk (Maryborough) and D. Robinson (Granville). There are also 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from his late residence, Granville, and was attended by many relatives and friends. Pastor F. G. Fischer officiated.

Carl ECKERT is my 4x great grand father on my mother's side. His great great great great grand daughter Sharon SHEPPEARD visited his grave in Maryborough on 1st of October 2020 which was 80 years, 7 months and 6 days after his death
