Narrative
Boyle-Bendell.
St Brigid's new Church, Red Hill, was the scene of a very pretty wedding, on Saturday, April 17 which caused considerable interest, it being the first celebrated in the sacred edifice. The bridegroom, Mr. James Boyle, is the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyle, Glasgow, Scotland, and the bride, Miss Agnes Mary Bendell, is the fifth daughter of the late Mr. George Frederick Field Bendell (Traffic Inspector) and Mrs. Bendell, Musgrave-road, Red Hill, and grand-daughter of the late Marmaduke Montague Kearns, officer, H. M. 89th Foot Royal Irish Fusiliers, Armagh, Ireland. The organ peals of "The Bridal March " played with much effect by St Brigid's Choir organist (Miss E. O'Keeffe) resounded through the church as the bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. W. J. Dwyer, entered. The marriage was celebrated by the Rev. Father M'Carthy (parish priest) inside the sanctuary ; the altars were tastefully decorated by the Sisters of Mercy. The bride wore a handsome gown of ivory charmeuse over cream satin, with tunic of Limerick lace, ornamented with seed pearls and orange blossoms , her richly embroidered tulle veil was arranged in mob cap effect over a wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The bridesmaid, Miss Cecilia Mary Bendell (sister of the bride), wore a dainty gown of white silk with white tulle hat tipped with blue forget-me-nots. Her shower bouquet and handsome gold bracelet were the gifts of the bridegroom. Mr J. A Gygar acted as best man. During the ceremony the choir, of which the bride was a member, sang an "Ave Maria," the soloists being Miss W. Murray and Messrs Roberts and Gaynor. As the bridal party passed down the aisle the organ again pealed forth in "The Wedding March. " Subsequently a reception was held at the Cafe Majestic, where the bride's mother received the guests. Rev. Father M'Carthy presided over the breakfast, at which many toasts were honoured. Among the guests were Mr. M. J. Kirwan, M L A , Mr. W. J. Dwyer and Miss Teresa Dwyer, Miss Clara Bendell, Misses Collie, Josephine and Master Paul Bendell (Borallan), Misses M. O'Keeffe, E. O'Keeffe, S. Kirwan, M. M'Intyre, L. Murphy, and W. Murray, Mr. and Mrs. O'Shea, Mr. and Mrs. W. Butler, Mrs. and Miss Kelly, Mrs. and the Misses Fleming, Mr. and Mrs. Corbett, Messrs J. A. Gygar, P. J. Ryan, Jackson (bandmaster), J. J. Roberts, Gaynor, J. Carey, W. Kelleher (Ipswich), R. Rush, and Master J. Corbet. After a very enjoyable evening, the happy couple left for the seaside, where their honeymoon will be spent, the bride travelling in navy blue coat and skirt, and black velvet hat with ostrich plume.
